About this space
In all modesty A so-called bourgeois house built in a classicist style according to the Harsdorff model in the years after the second great fire in Copenhagen in 1795. Since the 17th century, Dronningens Tværgade primarily housed the upper class in noble mansions in the immediate extension of Kongens Have and Rosenborg Castle; when No. 26 came along, those times were a thing of the past. Censuses tell of differently-abled residents; in 1801, 35 souls lived here, divided between the front and back houses; in 1865 there were 21, manufacturer Kjederup with his wife and four daughters, Shoemaker Vogel, Carriageman Olsen and Goldsmith Fischer, all with family and servants. Antique elements such as symmetry, pure geometric shapes and window sections highlighted with pediments draw the typical facade of a street named after Frederik the 3rd's queen Sophie Amalie.
