TRÆ - 1 Kalkværksvej, Aarhus 8000, Denmark
Operated by The Union
About this space
A climate-friendly wooden house made from recycled materials TRÆ is Denmark's tallest wooden building at 20 floors with two associated buildings of 6 floors. A magnificent climate office building of a total of 14,300 m 2 , where sustainability has been given full focus already in the initial choice of materials. With the forward-looking office building TRÆ, PFA tries to push the boundaries of sustainable construction, and the use of recycled materials in particular makes the building unique in the Aarhus cityscape. TRÆ is a modern and innovative hybrid between wood and concrete, but also gets its distinctive facade expression by being composed of recycled materials from demolition projects in Aarhus and the surrounding area. The varied facade coverings are, among other things, created from bricks, recycled wood and discarded wind turbine blades, which together must reduce the building's climate footprint and limit CO2 emissions from the construction site during construction. TRÆ was designed by Lendager Arkitekter and supported by Aarhus Municipality's climate fund.
