Magnentus Tower

About this space

In 2014, Magnentus acquired Tullhuset 10 with associated land on the corner of Gamla Rådstugugatan and Hospitalsgatan. On the then dull gravel parking lot, it was planned to build a really tall house, the first "tall house" in Magnentus' portfolio. It ended up being a really modern 10-storey office building of around 5,000 square meters with a garage and basement. The first construction meeting took place on March 22, 2016, and on April 1 the following year, Länsförsäkringar moved in as the first tenant. The construction was closely followed as our own head office is directly across the street and we were able to ascertain that floors 2 to 10 were being built one floor a week. Magnentus Tower is certified according to environmental building gold and was one of the first properties in Norrköping to be awarded it. For us, it is important to create something more than just a house. We want to contribute something extra, both to our tenants and to the city, but also try to connect with history. On the site where the Magnentus Tower now stands, there used to be a furniture store that was run by the leading furniture architects of the time and a prominent artist, Erik Chambert. Tower therefore got a distinctive floral patterned facade which is a new interpretation of Erik Chambert's pattern. The architect behind the house is ÅWL Arkitekter, who later also moved into the top floor and now have one of Norrköping's nicest offices. The largest tenants in the property are Länsförsäkringar Östgöta and Sweco Sweden, which have three floors each.
